EQAO – Gr. 3 and 6 students will participate in the Provincial EQAO testing.  Our Gr. 3 students will write the test on May 25th, 26th and 27th and the Gr.6 students will write the test on June 1st, 2nd and 3rd.  It is very important for all students to attend every day during those testing dates.  If you are making plans to take your child(ren) out of school, we appreciate you avoiding those dates.  Thanks so much for your cooperation!

Planning Begins for the 2015-2016 school year – We have started to plan for next year!  It is a complicated process that takes months and careful attention to detail.  Currently, we have submitted our projected student numbers to the Board Office.  This information is used to determine how many classes we will have, and the number of staff allocated to each school.  In the near future, teachers from each grade level will be meeting to consider the placement of each child based on a combination of the following criteria: the academic level of each student, each child’s learning style, the social/emotional level of each student, the relationships that exist between students, a balance in each classroom of students with special needs, strengths and challenges as well as gender.  Class organization is a process that we take very seriously and one that has a tremendous impact for the whole school year.  We do our very best to ensure that your child’s placement will best serve his/her learning needs.  As part of this planning, parents may choose to submit in writing, characteristics of their child(ren) and their learning needs that they would like us to keep in mind when developing classes.  If you wish us to consider specific information about your child(ren)’s placement for September, we ask that you submit this in writing to Mrs. Hagey-Nichols by May 1st, 2015.  Please understand that this is not an opportunity to request a specific teacher for your child(ren).
