We are approaching that time of year when staff will be working together over several sessions to build class groupings for September.  Staff have tremendous insight and expertise to support the placing your children into classes that will give them the best opportunities for success academically, socially and emotionally.

While we know your children well from a school perspective, we also recognize that your input is so important.  For this reason, I welcome any input that you wish to be considered as we go through this process.  If you have a specific request related to your child’s learning or well-being that you wish for me to consider as we place your child into a class for next year, please feel free to put your request in writing to me directly – either in an email or hard copy.  While it may not be possible to honour all requests, please know that they will certainly all be thoughtfully considered.

For our parents of students in French Immersion classes, please use this time to also reflect on your thoughts and intentions for the new school year.  Feel free to connect with your child’s teacher to have an honest conversation about planning ahead for success.  While the immersion program is a valued part of our community, our Core French program is strong and does not limit students from acquiring French language.  We have French-speaking staff in both Core and French Immersion whose schooling and training included the Core program.  Planning and making decisions early support the accuracy of our reporting of student numbers for class building and organization as well.  We really appreciate your ability to reflect on this now and to let us know if you foresee any changes for your child’s learning.
