Giving at Brigadoon – There’s a lot of giving going on at Brigadoon! We have wrapped up our annual Holiday charitable initiatives this week. Students, parents, and staff have joined together to donate toonies and food items for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region, one of several food drives the school holds throughout the year. Also, our families have generously donated 166 gifts as part of our Angel Tree of Giving for boys and girls across the region. Items include toys, puzzles, games, and clothing items. During the annual Seasonal Concert on December 11th, families provided baked goods to sell to families that evening. Over $700 was raised at the bake sale, organized by our Global Leaders, helping Brigadoon get even closer to its goal of building a school abroad. And last but not least, Ms. Jordan Patrick and her Grade 6 class held the Brigadoon Annual Super Seasonal Sale and raised $1 911 to be donated to Sunbeam Lodge, which provides residential care and treatment to physically challenged infants, children and young adults with mild to very severe medical, cognitive and developmental challenges. The Brigadoon community is a caring and generous one. Brigadoon thanks its students, families, staff and our greater community for making these events so successful and carrying on the spirit of giving.
School Council Tubing Night at Chicopee – Brigadoon School Council is offering a Tubing Night at Chicopee on Friday, January 9th from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Information about this event was sent home before the holidays. We hope you can make it!
Grade One French Immersion Registration – The French Immersion registration process will begin on Thursday, January 8, 2015 on the Waterloo Region District School Board website, www.wrdsb.ca.
Kindergarten Registration – Registration for children entering Junior and Senior Kindergarten is now being arranged. If you have a child born in 2010 or 2011 who is not currently attending Junior Kindergarten and you live in the Brigadoon area, please contact the school at 519 895-2353 to set an appointment for Wednesday, February 4th.
Brigadoon YMCA Childcare – The Brigadoon YMCA childcare has four toddler spaces available starting January 5th. If you are looking for care, or you know of anyone who is looking for care for their toddler keep us in mind. School-Day – Congratulations Brigadoon! 98% of our families have subscribed to School-Day!
New Flooring – We were fortunate to get new flooring in rooms 5,6,7,8,9 and 10 over the Christmas Holidays.
School Council – Our next School Council Meeting will be on Monday, January 26th at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!
