Winter was late in arriving but given the conditions in the last couple of weeks, it is safe to say that winter is definitely here. With that, comes many challenges for drivers and for walkers to and from school. We would ask that you please consider reinforcing some of the messages we are sharing with our students with respect to safety during these conditions:
- Dress for it – wear those layers, good warm boots, mittens, hats and snow pants. Students are outdoors provided that conditions are warmer than -20 degrees with the windchill (as reported through Environment Canada for K-W and the University of Waterloo weather station).
- Please stay off of the snowbanks along the perimeter of the parking lot. Cars are coming and going, especially before and after school and taking this route is unsafe for students. Join us in encouraging our children to use the sidewalks and paths to our schoolyard.
- After school, students are asked to report home to parents before playing on the field or on the hills. Please stay off of the hills that run from the sidewalks on Caryndale to the school. It is not safe to slide towards the building. Someone will get hurt.
Thank you for reinforcing our messages and working together with us to keep our Brigabears safe.
