Today, a message went out on School Day to our families about the recent loss of our beloved evening custodian, Mr. Randy Hennick.  Here is a copy of that letter below.  In honour of his service to Brigadoon, our flag will fly at half mast here and at the education centre.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Brigadoon School Community is extremely saddened by the sudden death of Mr. Randy Hennick, our beloved evening custodian, due to complications from surgery. Mr. Hennick has been an integral part of our staff team for many years. The loss for us today is great.

Members of the Board’s Critical Events Response Team have consulted with our school administration. This information has been shared with students today and age appropriate discussions about empathy, death and bereavement have taken place in all classrooms.

While at home, your children may have questions or may express feelings about death. Children respond positively to direct and honest answers about loss and they benefit from the opportunity to express their feelings. We encourage parents to continue these conversations with their children.

Funeral arrangements are not available at this point. A parent should accompany any student planning to attend a visitation or the funeral.

On behalf of the Brigadoon Community, we express our deepest sympathy to the Hennick family.

Sincerely,

Kelly Gudas

Principal
